3 Envelope Roast

I now have time to get a post done. I'll be back again tomorrow morning with another one. I found this recipe at My Sister's Kitchen, she adapted the recipe from Big Oven. I love a good crock pot recipe and this is now added to my list. It is also very simple to make and turns out nice and tasty. I even used the juices leftover to make gravy. I thickened it with a slurry made from flour and water, then added some beef bouillon and salt. It was excellent. When packets of salad dressings and gravy go on sale, stock up for this wonderful recipe.

3 Envelope Roast

3 pound beef roast (such as chuck roast)
1 envelope of dry Italian salad dressing mix
1 envelope of dry ranch salad dressing mix
1 envelope of dry brown gravy mix
2 cups water

Put the water in a measuring cup that is larger then the amount of water you are using. Now add and mix all three envelopes of dry salad dressings to the water. Mix until blended completely. Brown the roast (if desired). Add the meat to your cooker. Pour the water, salad dressing mixture over the roast. In the slow cooker cook it on high for about 4 hours on low about 8 hours.Stumble Upon Toolbar

The gravy tasted excellent after the addition of a little bouillon and salt.

That was the best tasting roast I've ever made. We had it for dinner today and it was yummy. It made the best gravy also, I did't have boullion so I used an envelope of brown gravy and mushroom gravy and put the water in that they each called for and it was tasty. Thanks for the down home recipes that are easy to make..

This does look like a really yummy recipe! We don't have a slow cooker, but I'll have to try the same thing as a "regular" roast in terms of cooking method. I love that there aren't 75 ingredients - as a working mother of 2 under 3, plus a husband and 2 cats, easy equals good!
